Highlights

It’s been another busy week in AR+VR! In addition to keeping you up-to-date on the top AR+VR news, funding activity, and launch announcements, here are the three stories you need to know: 4.2M PSVRs, AT&T bullish on AR, and $3.4B mobile AR industry.

Sony has confirmed that they have sold more than 4.2 million PSVR systems around the world.

Meanwhile, AT&T's CEO took the stage to talk about a future powered by 5G, including a post-mobile world. "We carry around these devices and they're bigger than they should be...I say they go away," Stephenson recently said to the Economic Club of Washington DC. "It is conceivable that we're going to be moving into a world without screens, a world where [glasses are] your screen. You don't need any more form factor than [that]. AT&T will begin selling Magic Leap One devices in select stores this month.

Finally, a new report from SuperData Research suggests that the mobile augmented reality industry will reach $3.4 billion this year. The Nielson Company states that mobile AR has access to over a billion smartphone users and that the industry is poised to reach $9.6 billion by 2020.
