Started up in 2016 by a few IT veterans The Parallel objective was always to explore the power of Virtual Reality (VR) in order to bring greater efficiency in traditional brick and mortar business. The company has completed over 40 commercial projects providing customers with bespoke VR software solutions ranging from off-plan real estate walkthroughs to very complex training simulators in oil and gas and defence industries. All the proceeds made from service model were reinvested into R&D attempting to come up with the new game changing solution. The more they were digging into the capabilities of VR, the more opportunities VR technology revealed. In December 2017 The Parallel kicked off R&D activity researching synergies between Brain Computer Interface (BCI) and VR technologies. The product that evolved since then is called CleverPoint, which is an enterprise and consumer hardware and software solution designed to collect and analyse biofeedback of VR end users. Using hybrid approach CleverPoint hardware monitors electroencephalogram, electrocardiogram, electromyography, electrooculography and galvanic skin response. The first positive set of results has been obtained as a result of clinical trials set with children suffering from Cerebral Palsy. Using VR children are completing a set of rehabilitation exercises, while CleverPoint monitors children’s biofeedback. Decoded data outcome helps to identify various patterns such as fatigue, fear, interest and concentration levels. The data then helps therapists to monitor and manage rehabilitation process of each child making it more effective compared to methodologies used with control groups.
