Yolanda Barton
Founder Revere XR
Yolanda is the founder of Revere XR, an Atlanta-based agency that creates pioneering virtual reality (XR) experiences, using technology to deliver inclusive, immersive storytelling. Revere XR has a particular focus on preserving the history of music, music legacies, and African American community culture. Her breakthrough work is a virtual reality project that tells the musical history of Seattle’s historically black Central District (CD), through immersive experiences that uncover the CD’s lost stories and musical legacies. Prior to founding RevereXR, Yolanda spent ten years in community outreach and engagement management. She is the President and Founder of YB consulting, a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) consulting firm serving clients ranging from Amazon to educational institutions to startups. In this role, Yolanda consults with clients to create innovative diversity and inclusion programs and curriculum, based on proprietary Inclusion Audit TM methodology.Yolanda also works to encourage the next generation of Black and Brown creators through her Virtual and Mixed Reality summer camps and after-school VR programs, as well as consulting on in-the classroom events and activities.Yolanda holds dual MA degrees from the University of Washington in communication, Storytelling Digital Media (MCDM) and Communities and Networks, (MCCN).Yolanda is also a highly sought-after speaker who has spoken at numerous Technology and Fortune 500 company events on the importance of Inclusion in technology. She was also recently selected as an Oculus Launchpad winner.
