Augmented reality (AR) is quickly becoming one of the biggest game-changers for businesses by merging the physical and digital worlds to transform brand engagement and enable a new form of storytelling. The underlying technology that makes these new dimensions and immersive experiences possible is artificial intelligence (AI). Adobe’s Tatiana Mejia will discuss how AI is powering AR experiences, enabling creatives to easily create new experiences, and users to interact with the physical environment in a multidimensional way in real time. Augmented Reality is emerging as the key medium for two-way remote collaboration applications to guide participants more effectively and efficiently via visual instructions. In technology support settings, such “Remote Assist” applications are increasingly used by remote support experts to guide field technicians through hardware installations and repairs to save cost, reduce repair time and eliminate errors. “Self-Assist” is the natural next step of AR-driven technology support, in which the field technician receives instructions directly from the AR system through virtual procedures. Needless to say, “Self-Assist” is more desirable as it eliminates dependency on remote experts thereby saving cost, and further reduces support timelines by providing instant access to the relevant information rather than having to wait for an expert to guide the repair. In this talk, we explore the “Remote Assist” to “Self-Assist” journey for technology support, and demonstrate how we leverage AI capabilities to enable “Self-Assist”.
This talk will first present a wide perspective of how AI and XR impacts the way consumers shop. Memomi’s research in AI/AR has proven its value to enhance productivity and efficiency in a retail setting. Customers virtually try-on glasses, makeup, jewelry, clothing, and shoes by simply walking up to a mirror, using an iPad, pulling out their phone, or opening a targeted email. This AI/XR experience excites customers, drives traffic on social channels, increases shopping conversions, and enhance customer lifetime value. The talk will follow with a discussion of the speaker’s newest work which examines the latest technologies in tracking and measuring capabilities of the software in a variety of verticals.
AI is only as good as its training data; a problem for Computer Vision where sourcing and prepping image data is slow and expensive. This is especially true for mixed reality applications as the industry transitions from AR based targets to true environmental interaction. LexSet solves this problem with TDaaS (Training Data as a Service), using 3D simulation to create photo-realistic synthetic data to train Vision AI models. The results are significant improvements in overall AI accuracy for object recognition and spatial navigation.
