Valentin Heun is a V.P. of Innovation Engineering at PTC, leading the PTC Reality Lab. His research focuses on new computer interaction methods for the physical world. Valentin created the first architecture-scale Augmented Reality platform for Spatial Computing, founded the Vuforia Spatial Toolbox Open-Source Community and cofounded a 6DoF U.I. interface company for robotic and CAD. His work was named by Fast Company as The Boldest Idea in User Interface Design and received global recognition, including the SIGGRAPH Asia Emerging Technologies Award. He was also named to the Smart List by Wired U.K., and received the Editor’s Choice Award for IoT Software & Tools from PostScapes. Valentin’s works have been published in many academic conferences such as Ubiquitous Computing, SIGGRAPH Asia, and CHI. Valentin holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Media Arts and Science from the MIT Media Lab and a Dipl.-Des. from the Bauhaus-University Weimar Germany.
