John R. Kennedy
Instructional Designer ORETTC

John Kennedy is an instructional designer and video lead for the KAPS team within ORETTC. In his daily role, John works with subject matter experts to synthesize their knowledge and maximize knowledge transfer and engagement with ORETTC learners and course participants. John is the Y-12 ISD lead for the ORS program and works with other programs on various instructional design and video needs.

As video lead, John leverages his experience in video production and education to align course objectives and client learning goals to ensure videos are used as learning tools and not as throwaway material. With several vendors and instructional technologists, John is the ORETTC lead to build an immersive volume video wall. He assists in creating the development pipeline and workflow for volume operations being used as an immersive learning space, a 3d tour tool, and an R&D resource for the future of extended and mixed realities used in education.

Prior to Y-12, John was the Director of Operations at Jupiter Entertainment and an advisor for the University of Tennessee’s Office of Student Media. John graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2021 with a Master of Education in instructional design and in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication.
