Jannick Rolland
Optical See-through HMD Pioneer

Jannick Rolland started her journey in optics more than four decades ago, pioneering the design of stereoscopic head-worn displays for medical visualization. During her tenure as the Brian J. Thompson Professor of Optical Engineering at the University of Rochester, Rolland has contributed significantly to the fields of optical engineering, medical imaging and freeform optics.

In 2013 she co-founded optical technology company LighTopTech, where she focused on creating medical imaging technologies with biomimetic noninvasive imaging technology. With more than 50 patents to her name, her contributions span optical system design, freeform optics, and augmented and virtual reality displays.

Rolland's research has helped revolutionize optical instrumentation, enhancing imaging quality and advancing AR/VR experiences, and her dedication to optical engineering continues to shape the future of immersive technology.
