Ralph Osterhout
Creator of the First Fully Functional Standalone AR Glasses at ODG

Ralph Osterhout, founder and CEO of Osterhout Design Group (ODG) in 1999, has been a driving force in the development of augmented reality and wearable technology. He is named as inventor on 260 patents and patent applications (a large portion of which were sold to Microsoft to enable the development of the HoloLens) and has developed over 2,000 different products over the course of his career, which spans decades.


Osterhout's expertise led to the creation of the first lightweight standalone stereoscopic smart glasses, which featured a high quality AR display that registered graphics in 3D, and was considered to be the best standalone AR glasses device until the launch of the HoloLens.


His work at ODG has set high standards for innovation in AR, pushing the boundaries of visual computing and user experience and showcasing the versatile potential of AR to transform various sectors.
