AWE Talks: Can Decentralized Networks Unlock XR?

– But that only gets you so far, you also need native infrastructure to deliver high-poly content.
– According to Ramirez, we can wait for the AWS' of the world to do that, or proactively build it.
– The latter is Mawari's latest play: a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN).
– This crowdsources necessary compute resources from a network of opted-in individuals.
– Participants can share idle compute resources to power the network, while being compensated.
– Their participation involves compute and also network monitoring, with crypto-based rewards.
– This culmonates in Mawari's Decentralized Infrastructure Offering (DIO) where users can buy in.
– Doing so gets them node licenses for Mawari's Guardian network, including its financial rewards.
– This was previewed at the time of AWE, but is now in the DIO active window (see more here).
– This will be a telling market signal to see if this type of approach works in XR.
– Meanwhile, Mawari isbuilding something innovative, novel and – most of all – XR native.
