Catch up on the latest AR+VR highlights, funding news & launch announcements: Week of November 4

Welcome to another AR+VR weekly, brought to you by AWE! In addition to keeping you up-to-date on the biggest news, funding activity and announcements in immersive tech, here are three stories that caught our eye last week:

Highlights

Outrage over a user-created filter called "FixMe" has led Facebook to ban 'plastic surgery' filters, including face lifters and lip fillers. Going forward, Spark AR says it will take longer to approve new filters and delete any offensive filters from the Instagram Effect Gallery.

Meanwhile,  scientists found that immersive experiences of the icy Arctic (think icebergs and frigid oceans) can actually relieve burning pain, adding to the growing pile of evidence that VR could be used to treat chronic pain.

Finally, the latest Apple AR rumors: Apple is reportedly working with gaming giant VALVE on a new headset and - as indicated in a recent patent - working on advanced gaze prediction in MR.
