Welcome to another AR+VR weekly, brought to you by AWE! In addition to keeping you up-to-date on the biggest news, funding activity and announcements in immersive tech, here are three stories that caught our eye last week:

Highlights

New research by Juniper Research predicts that games by Niantic and Snapchat filters will fuel 10 billion mixed reality app downloads by 2024.

Meanwhile, Apple is eyeing a 2022 release for its first AR headset and the following year for a pair of AR glasses. In more Apple news, check out patents for a future 'iRing' and use AR to place the new MacBook Pro on your work desk.

Finally, Ziggy Stardust made an appearance this past weekend at the Dream Hotel in Hollywood. David Bowie's iconic sci-fi rockstar persona was brought to life via motion capture tech and Unreal Engine; guests could view and interact with Ziggy via an 8K Samsung monitor.
