Augmented reality (AR) is quickly becoming one of the biggest game-changers for businesses by merging the physical and digital worlds to transform brand engagement and enable a new form of storytelling. The underlying technology that makes these new dimensions and immersive experiences possible is artificial intelligence (AI). Adobe’s Tatiana Mejia will discuss how AI is powering AR experiences, enabling creatives to easily create new experiences, and users to interact with the physical environment in a multidimensional way in real time. Attendees will hear how AR is being leveraged with AI across industries and learn about the trends and best practices for deploying AR – which will allow creatives and marketers to harness AI to produce immersive, personalized and relevant experiences for customers.

If Black Americans say it, wear it, or listen to it, whatever "it" is immediately dominates the popular discourse and shifts mainstream culture. In fact, arguably Black culture is mainstream culture, directly responsible for trillions of dollars in purchases annually and influencing a far higher market spend from non-Black consumers. Despite this, Black characters, narratives, and interests are largely absent from the XR industry. This talk will provide practical strategies to engage Black audiences in immersive experiences that are rooted in traditional community organizing practices and building authentic relationships with consumers. TL;DR: This is a talk about welcoming Black people into XR spaces.

After decades of false starts, holographic displays are finally coming to market. These new holographic devices go by many names — holographic interfaces, light field displays, superstereoscopic displays, volumetric displays — and serve as a third pillar beside VR and AR. As a technological group, holographic displays are designed to enable groups of people to interact with virtual worlds, 3D information, and images from the real world, without the friction of putting on a headset or wearing glasses. In this presentation, Looking Glass Factory CEO and Co-Founder Shawn Frayne will provide an overview of the landscape of this new technology and dive deeper into the many opportunities for its use in enterprises, from medical imaging to training to retail and beyond. He will also provide a look at where this technology can go in the future. This talk is designed for anyone who is investigating new ways to display and interact with 3D content for business purposes, without the friction of VR headsets or AR glasses.

Being creative in any industry is hard, but working for businesses that are not traditionally art-oriented adds another level of challenges to artists on top of coming up with brilliant ideas. As more and more businesses investing in XR, a new door of opportunities have been open to the artists that are beyond the traditional entertainment industry. As exciting as it sounds, many artists will also find themselves in a situation having to explain their art and its value to other people at their company who are not used to 3D animation or XR production workflows. In this talk, I would like to share my experiences working as an XR 3D Artist at Verizon, a company I thought I would have no business working for just five years ago. I will share how I adapted to the role, the industry, and how I learned to provide my creative inputs using my past projects as examples.

Immersive experience has long found a home in location-based entertainment, bringing a sense of disbelief and amazement. Virtual and augmented reality technology is a natural progression of the innovation around these experiences and adoption has been growing over the past three years in its second emergence in out-of-home entertainment. While there is enthusiasm around the endless possibilities for xR in the location-based entertainment market, a bumpy road lies ahead with many challenges. Join Greenlight Insights for a detailed, data-driven presentation exploring the current state of xR in location-based entertainment and where we will be heading.

For augmented reality (AR) to be broadly adopted across industries and embraced by consumers, AR experiences need to be context-aware and to intelligently interact with the real world. Unity’s Mixed and Augmented Reality Studio (MARS) addresses this challenge. Join us for a walk-through of the MARS proxy-based workflow. We’ll cover a breadth of AR experiences across industries, discuss how to take full advantage of complex real-world environments, and share how to design fallbacks to allow experiences to function even in worst-case AR scenarios. Throughout the session, we'll explore core MARS workflow concepts and AR authoring philosophies.

As Cross Reality platforms become more prevalent, the process for crafting best in class experiences requires a completely different, 3D-focussed mindset. In this talk, Framestore will explain why creating experiences for mixed reality platforms require creative and technical partners who have an understanding not just of storytelling, but also 3D space and design, as well as its opportunities and limitations. Drawing on experiences across award-winning projects for Game of Thrones, Air New Zealand and Lionsgate theme parks, Framestore will explain how leaders in both traditional technology and mixed reality can really maximize the use of 3D space. It will highlight the R in XR and explain how to ensure that the fidelity of the constructed reality stands up to the level of enhanced engagement that these unique platforms allow.

Through my personal journey, the context of the Hispanic population, and having VR Americas as a signatory of the Hispanic Promise, I want to show why the corporations and technology companies should consider this audience as a critical talent source. We account for more than 18.1% of the U.S. population, $2.13 trillion of GDP, 46% of employment growth. Hispanic talent is a great opportunity and a good business for the companies interested in producing and using Exponential Technologies.

In recent years, augmented technology has developed rapidly, resulting in a variety of product alternatives, from apps to wearables. Today, there are many devices available for anyone who wishes to experience virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Most of these options, however, use heavy and uncomfortable headsets, require lengthy discovery times, phones, tablets, and clunky wires. In contrast, projected AR offers an easy, immersive, and potentially revolutionary way of blending the physical world with a high-tech dimension. Unlike current forms of AR and VR, projected AR is visible to the naked eye. Displaying amazing projected AR effects in the everyday world around us, unrestricted by rectangular screens, via the use of projectors enables a future where digital art and information are seamlessly integrated. In this talk, I will discuss how you can easily augment and enhance real-world environments with projected AR, all the while not spending large amounts of money, or having to be a programming expert to create engaging and eye-catching visuals. Using computer vision powered design tools, I will show you some magically real projected AR use-cases.

Everyone is talking about Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0. We will be presenting our proven approach to transform complex team processes from traditional approaches to a unique dynamic collaborative mixed device AR guided approach using the award winning OptiworX System. Transformation can be a challenge in itself to get today's workforce on the road to digital transformation using new technologies such as AR and smart devices, and the digitalization in industries with high regulatory requirements makes matters even more complex. Goodly Innovations was launched by AR and pharmaceutical technology experts with these specific requirements and the complex scenarios of large industrial production lines in mind. Manual processes on 24/7 industrial plants such as large scale filling and packaging lines can be complex and require teamwork and high precision. Not to mention regulatory requirements such as data integrity, documentation obligations, FDA requirements etc. Goodly’s collaborative OptiworX process guidance platform is a unique system designed to meet these challenges and integrate seamlessly into existing environments at various levels while keeping a focus on the individuals’ skills and needs. We will discuss challenges and present real-world use cases from many global pharmaceutical companies that are already using the system today.
