OpenXR has transformed the way developers deliver cross-platform AR/VR experiences. As a royalty-free open standard from the Khronos Group, OpenXR provides high-performance access to AR and VR devices. The OpenXR standard enables application developers to program to a single, common, high-performance API which supports a number of different AR and VR platforms. Containing everything an application needs to drive XR devices in a system, OpenXR helps applications run on a multitude of platforms, allowing hardware manufacturers to gain access to a broader range of pre-existing content.

In this session, Brent Insko, Lead XR Architect for Intel and OpenXR Working Group Chair, is joined by executive producer from Asobo, Antoine Bezborodko, who will talk about developing the Micosoft Flight Simulator VR , what motivated him to use OpenXR and the value it brings to users. Brent will share recent industry developments for OpenXR, explain how XR developers can integrate OpenXR into their workflows, and share updates about expanded augmented reality support that is under development for OpenXR. The rise of virtual care services is an emerging trend to provide medical services without the need of physical presence. However, there are barriers related to the physician’s ability to measure vital signs, emotional and physical conditions, which prevents virtual care to deliver the same level of experience, as is the case with face-to-face care.
We have come up with innovative solutions based on set of our technologies, related to Vital signs measurements, EmoGraphy stress management, 3D depth sensing, etc., to enable AR/VR Enhanced Virtual Care. The proposed solutions try to improve upon existing virtual care by combining remote physiological measurement with 3D computer vision models of human pose and new forms of rendering 3D health information in an immersive and interactive manner, allowing spatially aligned rendering of vital signs data with captured images.
The proposed solution, can be extended to remotely monitor multiple subjects, which is useful for providing elderly care in crowded places.

The Girl Scouts and The Virtual Wild launched an AR walking trail app call "GeoQuest." It's focused around the STEM Center of Excellence at Camp Whispering Cedars in Dallas, TX. Using Bluetooth beacons, GeoQuest is a location-based app that makes it fun for Scouts to learn about the camp's unique history of buried dinosaur fossils that have been found near an ancient geology trail. Users are led down a walking path and get to dig up digital and real 3D-printed fossils. The app aims to merge a creative digital story with real life and then exposes many STEM careers that went into building the experience.
This relationship between the Girl Scouts or Northeast Texas and The Virtual Wild started with this bespoke project. Now, it has blossomed into a multi-year strategic plan aimed at creating a wide range of innovative projects that will support the Scouts' needs in areas of recruitment, education, transition into the professional workforce, and alumni support. The experience of working together is a great example of how a Non-Profit and a For-Profit organization can thrive together. Ashley Crowe, GSNETX's Chief Program Officer, and Jay Rutherford will lead this joint presentation by offering insight and discussing strategic details from their own perspectives.
