Abbott's Mixed Reality (XR) blood donation experience uses Microsoft HoloLens 2 headsets to create a calming, digital environment for donors, aiming to reduce anxiety and attract younger generations. The technology blends digital elements with the real world, allowing donors to feel relaxed while remaining fully aware of their surroundings and keeping their eyes visible for staff monitoring. Reality Hack at AWE 2026

The hack begins May 28 and continues until AWE USA 2026, where participants will meet on Monday, June 15 to finish their projects. Judging takes place on Builders Stage on Tuesday, June 16. Winners will be announced on Main Stage during the 17th Annual Auggie Awards and Hall of Fame Ceremony Presented by Reality Hack, Spectacles, and AWE.
