Description

Augmented reality (AR) devices are becoming more available to consumers than ever, but the hardware, software and social considerations of face-mounted compute are far from settled topics. In this talk, the Display Skeptics, Dr. Radu Reit and Karl Guttag, introduce and provide perspectives on:

  • Display Hardware (LCOS, MicroLED, Micro-OLED, and Laser)
  • Optical Hardware (birdbath, diffractive, geometric)
  • Additional Hardware must-haves (cameras, dimming modules, prescription lenses)
  • Software drivers (what are the “killer apps”)
  • Social Implications (e.g. acceptance of constant camera surveillance)

Join the Display Skeptics for both technical introductions to the above, as well as a healthy debate for each overarching topics where they try to convince the audience of the merits and drawbacks of each technology discussed.
