The XR Stage Advantage: Reimaging Collaboration in Teamwork Simulations

Creating a teamwork simulation leveraging virtual production stage (VPS) technology—a blend of giant LED walls and real-time 3D rendering (like Unreal Engine) allowed our team to create a highly scalable immersive training environment for healthcare teams. Creating a choose your own adventure style learning simulation that can engage teams of health professionals was a collaborative effort by nursing faculty, XR developers, media specialists, and others. The final product produced a simulation that feels more authentic than traditional 2D video. Our presentation showcases how XR developers can design and implement branching, team-focused case simulations using VPS. This unlocks new learning opportunities: improved teamwork, communication, and leadership skills—all in a setting that’s easily scalable for classroom or remote use. We’ll demo our “Navigating Team Dynamics” simulation, share workflow tips, and discuss evaluation methods.
