Description

Radiotherapy planning is fundamentally a complex 3D spatial problem, yet clinicians still rely heavily on fragmented 2D interfaces such as CT slices and DVH charts. Radiation oncologists and medical physicists must mentally reconstruct spatial relationships between tumors, dose distributions, and critical organs, creating high cognitive burden and slower decision-making.

To address this challenge, Lixel combines a glasses-free 3D floating display, mid-air interaction, AI segmentation and 3D reconstruction, and AI-integrated RTSS software. The platform transforms conventional treatment plans and DICOM data into intuitive 3D visualization and interaction, enabling clinicians to directly review and edit spatial dose information in 3D.

Co-developed with Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, the platform demonstrates the potential to improve spatial understanding, accelerate planning workflows, and enhance multidisciplinary collaboration. Beyond radiotherapy, Lixel believes this spatial interface approach can expand into broader healthcare and other high-stakes industries requiring complex 3D understanding and human–AI collaboration.
