Director, Virtual Human Therapeutics Lab
USC Institute for Creative Technologies

Sharon Mozgai is the Director of the Virtual Human Therapeutics Lab at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, where she leads the design and evaluation of virtual human systems for health, training, and human-centered AI applications. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University and a B.A. in Psychology from New York University.

Her interdisciplinary background spans psychology, behavioral science, and computational methods. Prior to joining ICT, she worked as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School and as a Text Analyst at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on  DARPA-funded natural language processing R&D.

Since joining ICT in 2015, Mozgai has held multiple leadership roles, including Research Analyst in the Virtual Humans Group, Lead R&D Scientist, and Associate Director of MedicalVR. Her work integrates insights from psychology, medicine, neuroscience, and rehabilitation sciences to identify where immersive technologies—particularly virtual reality and virtual humans—can meaningfully extend or improve upon traditional clinical assessment and intervention approaches.

Her current research focuses on scalable, evidence-based virtual human systems designed to increase engagement, support behavior change, and bridge users to real-world care and social support.
