Pratik Thakare is the Engineering Manager for the PICO Foundation-Developer Technology team. Focused on building the developer SDKs like:


  • WebSpatial: an open-source framework that lowers the barrier for over half of today’s developers to enter XR by extending familiar web technologies like HTML, CSS, and React into spatial computing.  

  • SpatialML: a full-stack AI infrastructure that spans data collection, model training, and on-device deployment. The development tools under the SpatialML umbrella powers the XR ecosystem across four layers—Device, System, Capability, and Content—enabling intelligent sensing, interaction, and content generation on next-gen XR platforms.

  • PICO Unity Spatial: part of the PICO Unity SDK that enables Unity developers to deploy their apps to PICO OS 6's Spatial multiapp ecosystem. Allows developers to quickly iterate on Unity apps and verify them on device.

His team & work enables a variety of app and game developers easily deploy apps to PICO's XR & Spatial app ecosystem. He focuses on improving iteration time on app development, removing roadblocks and improving overall developer experience. 

Pratik has over 15 years experience in the industry, working across game development tools and pipelines, developer tools and building core XR frameworks. Before joining PICO, Pratik worked at Apple, Vision products group for around 7 years, helping build core frameworks in VisionOS like RealityKit and other OS features. Prior to Apple, Pratik worked at Bungie where he helped build some of the core technologies on the Destiny & Destiny 2 game engine and tools, helping build game designer and game artist tools to improve development workflows.
