Mike has over 20 years of experience developing interactive software. With a background in academic research and a Master's degree from the Centre for Intelligent Machines at McGill University, he has expertise in large-scale virtual environments, spatial audio, AR/VR, projection mapping, video game development, and managing highly-technical teams in these disciplines. Mike started Hololabs in 2011 and began to create AR applications for mobile devices, as well as multimedia installations and video games. He has worked on projects with the National Film Board of Canada, EyeSteelFilm, the Society for Arts & Technology, Kid Koala, the Vancouver Olympics, and Universal Studios. He led the game development team for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge from first implementations in 2017 and oversaw commissioning at Universal Studios in Japan, Hollywood, and Orlando.
