Luke Cartwright has a decade of experience building the foundational systems, tools, and interactions for spatial computing. As a software engineer at Snap, Luke is building AI-powered developer tools for Lens Studio, dramatically reducing the friction of AR development and making it easier for creators to experiment and turn ideas into reality.
Earlier at Snap, he engineered Colocated Connected Lenses: shared AR experiences that multiple people can use together in the same physical space. He also built “Finger Paint,” one of the first multiplayer experiences for Specs.
Prior to his work at Snap, Luke spent six years at Microsoft shaping the user experience for HoloLens, HoloLens 2, and Windows Mixed Reality. His work there spanned voice UI, core OS features like the Start menu and AI assistant integration, as well as AR experiences like translation.
Across his career, Luke has focused on narrowing the distance between imagination and reality by making spatial experiences easier to create, more natural to use, and more magical to encounter.
