Trond is a researcher, software engineer, and technologist who works at the intersection of health, well-being, games, and education, originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, now based in Seattle. Trond has worked in immersive technology since 2003, where he build tabletop applications and games using ARToolkit. Later, he relocated to Seattle to completed a PhD at the University of Washington combining techniques from artificial intelligence, 3D visualization, and medical ontology to augment human anatomy education.

From 2017 to 2022, Trond led engineering for Virtual Therapeutics, creating VR experiences to treat chronic pain, stress, and anxiety, before spending several years as an entrepreneur and consultant. Today, he teaches Virtual and Augmented Reality at the University of Washington and contributes to the development of advanced patient monitoring systems at Spacelabs Healthcare, supporting care in hospitals and clinics worldwide. Trond is the founder of the Seattle Immersive Technology Association, which runs AWE Nite Seattle, and Treasurer of the XR Guild.
