Researcher / Founder
Utrecht University / Response Reality

Jeffrey Harris is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Experimental Psychology, Helmholtz Institute, Utrecht University, with a background in cognitive psychology and a focus on perception, attention, and human-computer interaction. His research examines the experience of presence and related constructs. He develops objective measurement approaches that quantify presence through analytical frameworks and specialized algorithms. His work integrates methods from visual and spatial attention research and movement dynamics and translates these findings into insights for designing XR applications used in training, therapy, and diagnosis. His PhD is supervised by Tanja Nijboer and Stefan van der Stigchel.

Alongside his academic work, Jeffrey has gained practical industry experience in human-centered research and UX evaluation for immersive technologies and mobile applications, collaborating with organizations such as Google, Samsung, and the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment.

Jeffrey is also the founder of Response Reality, a company developing XR analytics with a focus on measuring user experience, in particular the standardized assessment of presence. Through this work, he aims to bring science-driven evaluation methods into the XR industry and support more precise and effective design and development of immersive systems.
